FROM WILMER APOLO IN IRAQ
I’m doing good for now. My company is in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. We just don’t stay around this area. We go all around Iraq. So far we have been to Kuwait, Baghdad, Falluhaj, Jordan border, Abu G (that jail prison), Al Taquuam and I can’t remember the other places.
Anyway, my experience here so far has been crazy. Our first mission, we hit a byan IED (improvise explosive device) that scared the hell out me. I’m in first platoon. So far our mission is pretty cool. I like doing it but we just have to keep both eyes open; one eye on the road and the other one ready to react to contact. So far our Company has found about 26 IED's. There was one that found us; 1st platoon, and we had nine that found 3rd platoon. That wasn’t pretty at all. We had 3 guys in the hospital. Sometimes I just don’t like to see pictures or hear things that happened here in Iraq. It scares me a little bit but I still want to keep going no matter what. Sorry I haven’t written but we sleep during the day and we wake up and head out again. We go for one day, sometimes two or three, or sometimes a week on a mission and we stay over in different posts around Iraq.
I have my re-enlisting contract coming up. So far it’s a 50/50 I will re-enlist. I think I will but only if I get stationed in Hawaii. If I do, I will probably stay for another four years but I’m still thinking about it.
