ST. JOHN’S 2014 SUMMER CAMP TRIP
July 17-20, 2014
St. John’s camping trips to Pompanuck Farms in Cambridge, New York are always a hit with the boys and staff. This year, the campers and staff enjoyed a very special treat. We were the guests of Ms. Veronique of Battenville, New York, only about 20 minutes from Pompanuck. The boys had a wonderful time in the inground pool, enjoyed the tennis court, and wolfed down the tasty buffet lunch. They spent a full 5 hours as Ms. Veronique’s guests and have been talking about it ever since.
When back at Pompanuck, another favorite activity, Bombardio (a kind of dodge ball game), held their attention and enthusiasm on Saturday. Of course, basketball had some of the guys busy for hours.
The boys all looked forward to using the sauna and then plunging into the pond, then back to the sauna, and again into the pond. Very refreshing!
Great food and plenty of it, interesting board games, chess for some, Frisbee, Tai Chi (Scott Carrino led) and a final night campfire were some of the other highlights of the very wonderful summer camp days. Residents, Earl, Adan, Felmaxz, Juane, Jose and Dolorez, along with counselors, Mike Penn, Mike Morgan and Greg Hester, and Ms. Jane Rodier and Ms. Margaret (cooks), Wally Rodier and Brother Tom Trager, all agreed the camp trip was a WINNER!
