One program is the Marianist Volunteer Program (MVP) coordinated by the Marianist Province of the United States of America. Individuals in this program give a year’s commitment to work in one of the programs at St. John’s. Volunteers in the past have been in the areas of Guidance, Recreation, Counseling, Tutoring, Child Care, Arts and Crafts, Court Liaison, Maintenance, Social Service, and work at The Red Door (St. John’s Thrift Store). The Marianist Volunteers live in community at St. John’s Residence. For further details concerning this program, contact Mr. Dan Richter, Coordinator of Marianist Volunteer Program, 4425 West Pine Blvd, St. Louis, Missouri 63108-2301, Tel. # 314-533-1207, Fax # 314-533-0778, Email: drichter@sm-usa.org.

Shorter term volunteers or individuals that would like to give some hours or days each week are often involved in our recreational programs or The Red Door Thrift Store. Individuals interested in this option should contact the Director of Human Resources, Ms. Margaret Geissman at 718-945-2800, ext. 214, Fax 718-945-4662, or email Mgeissman@stjohnsresidence.org. Background checks and references are required for all volunteer involvement.

Can You Spare a Half Day?

Would you like to help us realize our goal of reuniting our boys with their families?  We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to assist us in our visiting program.  It would mean escorting the young man to and from another agency where he would enjoy a visit with his sibling(s).  Visits last from one to two hours and do not require the presence of the volunteer, though they are welcome to remain if they so choose.  They are ordinarily on weekdays.  Interested in helping us?   Please call Brother Tom Trager at 1-718-945-2800  ext. 200  or email me at brotomt@verizon.net or drop a line to 144 Beach 111 St., Rockaway Park, New York, 11694.
